RE: Rejected Because RV over 10 Years Old

I would definately do some more homework before selling. I prefer older rigs and have not had any problems. I believe most places will let you in with an inspection. Having a rule gives them the capability to police their park which is a good thing. However, having a zero exception rule tells me that they don't have the ability to think for themselves. If they don't want to be bothered with a little mental exercise, I would move on and not look back. Glenn

RE: Roll out the shade

We have Zip Dee window awnings all around that are 22 years old and look almost new. I really like them when we boon dock, it can really cut down on sun load through the windows. Very easy to put up or down. I can have all of the window awnings out in less time than it takes to hook up electric and water. Regards, Glenn

RE: Red Top Mountain State Park North Atlanta

Two others in the area that are also nice....McKinneys (in between Clark's Creek and Red Top) and Victoria landing. I like Victoria because the sights are level and it is a little out of the way (not as much going on this time of year). Better Check if Clark/Victoria are open in October...they may shut down for the winter. I believe McKinney / Red Top might be year round. Regards, Glenn

RE: Looking for 32' fifth wheel toy hauler to haul Jeep Wrangler

Most toy haulers are not set up as "car" haulers. Most of the ones I have seen have about 2500 on cargo limits. Hopefully someone knows of one set up for your needs. You might have to end up towing it on a trailer or 4 wheels down. Glenn

RE: Rotten Roof

You will need to open it up to replace the rotten wood and damaged insulation / materials. If you don't, you will have mold in that area which could be a problem in the long run with odor or allergies. You should be able to roll the rubber roof back after removing the edge trim and any fixtures on top. While a pain, you will know it is done right. Something you can do if you have the time. Glenn

RE: Is 2070 ccc enough?

For this size MH with 4 slides, a tag axle would permit the beef to remain and still have carrying capacity. When Tiffen designed this MH, what lengths did the engineers go through to get it light enough for the design objectives? I would not consider this coach due to the weight limitations and possible safety compromises. There are a lot of well designed coaches on the market that will provide you with more CCC and safety margin. Good luck in your deliberations. Glenn

RE: Buying a Screen Room for the TT

It depends on if you want an attached screen room or a detached screen room. I like the detached because it gives me more versatility. A very nice unit is the Paha Que Screen room, but it is a little expensive. It has a flap/awning on all four sides. If it rains, you have good protection. Or if you want more shade, put up its awnings. http://www.pahaque.com Regards, Glenn

RE: Bus worth five thousand dollars?

I would not be afraid of the age if it has been properly maintained. That will be the key. If all systems are current on maintenance and he has documents to show, it could be a good buy for someone. However, if it is in need of a lot of repair to get the maintenance caught up, I would not give it any consideration. Glenn

RE: DIY Lube Job

To grease the steering knuckles on the Wanderlodge, you are supposed to jack the wheels off the ground, pump in some grease, then turn the wheels several times to distribute the grease, and apply some more grease. Regards, Glenn

RE: Weber Q Question

On my Q220 I removed the regulator and added a quick disconnect to attach to my LP quick disconnect fitting on the coach. Depending on the coach, fittings can be purchased at your RV parts dealer, Home Depot, or LP supplier. Regards, Glenn

RE: Kids, seat belts, and Class A's. What's your opinion?

School buses have no seat belts. Do you let your kids ride the bus? School buses and Transit buses must meet DOT safety standards that Motorhomes do not. A few motorhomes meet or approach the safety standards, however most fiberglass-sided motorhomes do not meet the standards. My only point is that the statement above is not applicable in most cases for a true comparison. The laws of physics do apply and mass & momentum rule. However, if your motorhome does not have a safe upper structure or steel cage around the passengers, you can still have problems in an accident. I would guess most people in Motorhome accidents are injured from failing structures and flying debris. Of course, I have no data to support this. Glenn

RE: folding bikes

We have the single speed and the six speed. The six is aluminum and a much better bike to ride. I would not buy the single speed. Being steel, it is heavier and more prone to rust in a camping environment. Glenn

RE: fifth wheel and removable hitch

the reese signature series does not use rails. it has four holes in the bed for the removable hitch legs to insert into receiving pucks flush with the bed. Glenn

RE: fifth wheel and removable hitch

I had an arctic fax 1140 TC and it fit fine in my Chevy 3500 with the Reese Signature series removable 5th wheel hitch. Regards, Glenn

RE: For $60K, Class A Gas or Diesel?

The older the RV, it will be better if you can do your own maintenance. They all will need maintenance, but the older ones usually require a little more work due to previous owners neglect. However, if you shop around, you can find an older unit that has been garage kept with maintenance records. You should check out some older Blue Bird Wanderlodges. You can find a nice one for price you are seeking. Google vintagebirds, wanderlodge owners group, and wanderlodgeforum. Good luck in your search. Glenn
